A fantastic morning of Football at Bower Fold today for the Harry Dennison Memorial Rose Bowl, which was open to all the Primary Schools of Stalybridge to enter.

Despite the wind, rain, hail and cold, eight of the local schools took to the hallowed Bower Fold turf to be crowned the winners of the very first year of the Harry Dennison Memorial Rose Bowl.

Each school played seven games, with the top four teams in the group winning a place in the Semi Finals, which were as follows -

Semi-Final 1 - Stalyhill Junior 1-0 Silver Springs Academy

Semi-Final 2 - St. Raphael's Primary 2 - 0 Millbrook Primary

The Final between Stalyhill Junior and St. Raphael's, saw Stalyhill Junior run out winners 1-0 to lift the Trophy.

Prior to the Semi-Finals taking place, Stalyhill Junior were awarded the 'Fair Play' Trophy, chosen by the Referees and Volunteers from Copley Academy (Stalybridge), who were assisting with the running of the tournament.

Both Stalyhill and St. Raphael's were presented with their Trophy and Medals by Ann and Madeleine, both Grandaughter's of Harry Dennison, our thanks go to the family for making the trip up from Oxford to attend the Tournament.

A big thank you must go to Rachael Aitken, Community Engagement Officer at Copley Academy for arranging the Students to help and to the Students themselves, all 13 of them, for making the morning a complete success...well done!

Final thanks go to Stalyhill Junior, Yew Tree Primary (Dukinfield) and High Lane Junior FC Academy for the use of the Samba Goals, much appreciated.

The Harry Dennison Memorial Rose Bowl will take place again at the end of next season.
