As part of our 'Active Goals' School's programme, we arranged the second annual Tameside Teachers XI versus Coaching Staff from Manchester United Foundation.

The Teachers, assembled admirably by Gareth Hughes from Arlies Primary (Stalybridge), took to the hallowed Bower Fold turf last night, looking to gain revenge for last year's 5-3 defeat at the hand's of the Manchester United Foundation team.

In cold, wet, windy and miserable conditions the Manchester United staff ran out winners again, this time 7-3, the highlight's were Gareth's goal line clearance preventing the 8th goal from going in and James Wilson's (St. Paul's Primary, Stalybridge) stunning free kick in the last minute which flew into the top corner.

Our thanks go to Gareth for sorting the Team, better luck next year, also to Robert Curran (Hub Officer for MU Foundation at Astley Sports College, Dukinfield) for bringing the MU Foundation Team across again, our kitman, Mark Storah for the kit and finally, Michael Beech for Refereeing the fixture.
