Match Report -
Sixteen seconds
By Iain Benson

Celtic`s continued problem of gifting goals again cost the game, after Celtic showed a great deal of fight to come behind from a very early goal and take the lead. However, a second gifted goal and a penalty undid all that hard work.

Celtic had the kick off, a ball from Tom Buckley to Joel Bembo-Leta saw him immediately under pressure from Anthony Wilson, the ball was cleared but put straight back in, Danny East made a good save at the feet of Nathan Jarman, the loose ball spilling to Liam King who had an empty net after just sixteen seconds.

Celtic came right back at North Ferriby United, and unnerved the visitors. Sean McConville was denied by a combination of Danny Hone and Adam Nicklin, the ball spinning towards the penalty spot. Paul Ennis looked second favourite to reach it all the way with Danny Hone making up ground quickly, but Ennis found a burst of speed and got there six inches ahead of Hone, and put his shot into the bottom corner out of the reach of Nicklin.

Although chances were rare for the rest of the half, Celtic looked the more likely to create one, but neither time could get it.

The second half continued in a similar vein, neither side unable to break through and create a chance, but when Sean McConville's cross into the box with twenty minutes to go was handled by Danny Hone. Liam Dickinson stepped up and smashed the ball into the back of the net.

The lead was to last just two minutes, as sleepiness at the back let North Ferriby back into the game, Josh Wilson the lucky recipient of a free run at goal and a shot across East's goal and in at the back post.

The visitors didn't look particularly likely to get another, until Oliver Crowley tangled with Wilson; Nathan Jarman's penalty nearly took the crossbar off but still went in the net, bouncing down over the line.

Celtic ran out of ideas for the last ten minutes and North Ferriby capitalised, with a sense of d?j? vu. Danny East denied Russely Fry with a great point blank save from a corner, and was relieved to see Jarman's header off the corner clipped the bar and stayed out this time. East was again called into flying action to deny Danny Emerton's shot.

With only a goal in it, Celtic threw the ball forward, knowing a 4-2 loss was no worse than a 3-2 one, given the alarming goal difference, and Obi Anorou ? on for Jack Ryan, and he was a whisker away from gaining the freedom of Stalybridge, with his narrow angle shot over the top of Nicklin, but hitting the crossbar and ending any chance of any points.
