Wonder Strike Secures Replay
By Debbie Taylor

A dramatic late wonder strike from Bohan Dixon put Celtic in the hat for the next round, but we have to get through past a replay, thanks to a first half goal from Danny Clarke.

The game was very even, with nothing between the two sides, Liam King got his head on two corners, but couldn't direct the header in either case, and when Steve Tames laid off Adam Farrell, the Celtic man fired straight at Adam Nicklin when either side could have put Celtic ahead ten minutes in. Dixon's free kick was deflected off the wall just the wrong side of the post, and at the other end, Ben Middleton's free kick was headed onto the bar by Ash Palmer.

With just three minutes left of the half, North Ferriby got the breakthrough, Danny Clarke and Russell Fry interchanging with Danny Emerton with Danny Clarke getting the space just inside the box to rifle a low shot across the face of Tony McMillan's goal. It was a great strike, and the Celtic keeper couldn't prevent it hitting the back of the net.

The second half started quite bitty, with lots of stoppages and some heated tempers, Both Curtis Bateson and Aaron Chalmers found enough spaces for shots, but accuracy was lacking, whilst Danny Clarke almost doubled his tally with an overhead kick, but McMillan's reactions were top notch. Celtic switched to a 4-3-3, with Chris Simm leading the line, when he was bundled over by Ash Palmer as they both went for a high ball, there was a good shout for a penalty, but nothing given.

After all the stoppages, four minutes were added, and Celtic took full advantage, moving to 2-4-4, and pressing the visitors. Jack Higgins joined in up front, but it looked like it wouldn't be enough as stoppage time ticked away. A super ball from Danny Wisdom sent Pete Wylie scampering up the line, he whipped in a great cross that Simm and Palmer both went for, Simm flicking it out to the edge of the box, where Jack Higgins knocked the ball out to Bohan Dixon, thirty yards from goal, but his shot was out of this world, low and hard and zipped through the crowd unerringly into the bottom corner.

Replay.

In truth, the game probably deserved to be 0-0, with neither team getting enough on top to claim victory. But with a place in the first round tantalisingly close, it comes down to going to Ferriby Village on Wednesday night to see who will be taking the glory.
