Match Preview :- Marine - Tuesday August 21st, 2018 (19:45:00)

On Tuesday night Celtic host Marine (kick off 7:45pm). Marine drew their opening game 1-1 against relegated side North Ferriby United, after trailing 1-0. There will be a match centre and Twitter feed for this game.

Marine finished last season in nineteenth, after starting the season well, with three wins in their opening five games, before embarking on an eleven game run without a win that saw them briefly touch the foot of the table. This was turned around with a 3-1 home win over Celtic in Crosby, kicking off another good spell that saw them win four from seven. One win in seven games saw them again return to the foot of the table, but a reasonable final third of the season kept them away from the only relegation spot last season.

Their top scorer last season was Danny Mitchley, who scored sixteen goals, double that of James Murray, his closest rival for the golden boot. Both Mitchley and Murray are still at Marine, although their third top scorer has now joined Celtic: Liam Tongue, who scored seven for Marine last season. On average, they scored 1.5 goals away from home last season, whilst they conceded 1.6 away from home and 1.7 overall. In total, they scored thirty-eight on the road (sixty-seven overall) and conceded seventy-eight in total, thirty-eight of which were away. They kept five of their ten clean sheets away from home, whilst five of their eleven failures to score were away.

Marine won both of their encounters with Celtic last season, making us the only team they took six points off. The 3-1 at their place saw Celtic's goal come from the spot by Liam Dickinson. Their last visit to Bower Fold was back in August when they won 2-0. Our last win over Marine was in 2004, when we beat them 2-0 at Marine. Our last home win over them was even further back in 2002 when we beat them 2-1 with both goals from Chris Denham. 2004 was our best most recent year over Marine, although we drew 1-1 in the league, we beat them 2-0 in Marine in the league, and after being held to a 1-1 draw in the FA Trophy at Bower Fold, we beat them 2-1 in the replay in Crosby.

In Marine's last match, the 1-1 draw at home to North Ferriby United, they lined up as:
1. Martin Fearon
2. David Webb
3. James Short
4. Louis Coyne
5. Chris Doyle
6. Kenny Stickland
7. James Murray
8. Tony Donaldson
9. Danny Mitchley
10. Dom Reid
11. Craig Carney

In Celtic's last match, the 0-0 home draw to Mickleover Sports, Celtic lined up as:
1. Jake Turner
2. Liam Tongue
3. Scott Wilson
4. Tom Brown
5. Danny Brady
6. Michael Clarke
7. Matty Wolfenden
8. Ross Dent
9. Scott Bakkor
10. Billy Akrigg
11. Greg Wilkinson

Celtic are hopeful that Luke Wall's international clearance will arrive in time for kick off tomorrow, but otherwise have a full squad to choose from. The goalless draw was a better result against Mickleover than last season, so hopefully this can continue, and we get a better result against Marine!
