A much changed Celtic side fell to a 1-0 defeat at West Didsbury & Chorlton in the celts second pre-season outing.
A first-half goal from Aarron Grewall was enough for the hosts to secure victory.

Celtic were missing up to 10 first-team players but this gave players’s from Celtic’s Academy and Under 18’s the chance to taste first-team football.
Under 18 players Owen Hague, Matthew Jones, Noah Inneh and Academy youngster Lewis Hollingworth all featured for a youthful Celtic side.
The game started slowly with both sides looking fairly cagey however it was the hosts that created the first chance of the game which they took on nine minutes.
Grewall was played through on goal by Ben Elliott and he fired an effort across goal and past Celtic’s trialist keeper.
There wasn’t too much action for either side during the remainder of the game with Celtic getting into a few good positions but not being able to take advantage of these.
Celtic’s Trialist keeper was called into action midway through the second half, making a really good low save down to his right to deny the hosts a second, as they broke free into Celtic’s penalty area.
Celtic’s new signing Sope Awe went close with a diving header before Louie Chorlton fired an effort just wide of the far post following a deep cross from Trialist No.14.
The hosts ended up victorious with Celtic looking ahead to Tuesday night’s visit of Sky Bet League Two side Oldham Athletic to Bower Fold (19:00) where they will hope to have some first-team players available. Tickets can be purchased online via our ticketing website.
Celtic’s Under 18’s and 21’s are holding a Trial Day on July 18th. Details of which can be found on our club news page.
