Celtic boss, Steve Burr, has discussed the opening day fixture against Nantwich Town and other notable dates in the new season calendar as preparation continues for his side.

On the opening day clash against Nantwich, he said: "The fixture list announcement is always an exciting day for the fans, players, staff and anyone else associated with the club.

"To be given a home game on the opening day is a nice way to start the season. Nantwich will provide stiff competition though as they had a good season last year and will look to do the same again this time round.

"Saying that, all games in this division will be tough this year so it's important we approach everyone with the right attitude and get off to a good start."

Looking further on down the line, Burr touched on the Boxing Day derby against Ashton United at Hurst Cross.

He said: "Any local derby attracts interest but this one especially as they don't come much bigger for us. It will be great occasion round that time of year and hopefully we will get a good result."

Ahead of the weekends match away to Hyde United the boss spoke positively on his side's preparation.

"Despite having played only one pre-season game, I am very happy with the progress the lads are making as a team in training and we will look to develop that further tomorrow.

"We will look to give some lads more game time and see what they can do, so we have plenty of options going forward."
