Stalyhill Junior were in action at the Power League Complex in Stockport on Tuesday, representing Stalybridge Celtic FC in the Regional Finals of the National League Trust Boys Cup 2018.

Having won our 'Local' competition, winning all six of their fixtures and scoring twenty one goals, they arrived in Stockport full of enthusiasm and dreaming of a place in the National Finals, to be played at Wembley Stadium prior to the National League play-off final in May 2018.

Starting off with a 0-0 draw v Stockport County FC, they then were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline v Macclesfield Town FC, before picking up three points v Altrincham, 3-1, and a 2-0 win over Stockport County FC.

Seven points was enough to see them finish runners-up in Group B, where they faced the winners of Group A, Tranmere Rovers FC, which saw a very strong Tranmere side win 5-0 and book a place in the Final.

Some great football on show in all of the games, each and every one of the boys played well.

Our congratulations go to Tranmere Rovers who went on to win the Final and they will now represent the North West in the National Finals day in London.

Thanks to all the schools who entered a team in this years National League Trust Cup (Boys and Girls), we will be running the tournament again in 2019.
