Andy started his career at home town team Colchester United as an apprentice in 1983. He progressed through to the first team and made over a hundred appearances for them, scoring 5 goals in his 4 years there. Burnley was the next stop on his journey, when the Clarets bought him in August 1987 for ?13,000. He played a major part in Burnley's side, grabbing 19 goals in over 250 appearances over 7 years, including one appearance at Wembley in 1991. In 1994, he joined Wigan Athletic for ?20,000, staying 2 years and making regular appearances and adding another 2 goals to his tally. At the end of his contract with Latic, he joined Rochdale, where he spent 3 years, and played first team football over 100 times. There was a brief stint (by his standards) at Morecambe, making 30 appearances, and playing alongside Phil Eastwood for a spell. Finally, he moved to Leigh RMI, where a further 70 appearances were made. In total ?33,000 has been spent on him, he has made 637 league appearances and scored 31 goals over a 20 year career. Experience indeed! It was a shame he only lasted one game.
