Luke joined Celtic from league club Lincoln City. The imps signed him in September 2005 from Sheffield Wednesday, coming through the youth ranks there. During his spell in Sheffield he had Conference experience with Scarborough on loan, as well as a loan spell with Alfreton Town, where he was a fans favourite. After a couple of injuries with the Imps, he was sent on loan to York City at the end of 2006, but recalled after just four games, when his club needed him, only to be surprisingly told at the start of January 2007 that he was surplus to requirements despite him making over a dozen first team starts and scored one goal. So impressive was he, that Oxford put in 7 days notice for him, and he joined the full time outfit with our blessing.
