Steve started his career at Chelsea making 14 first team appearances. After spells on loan at Millwall, Brentford and Hartford Bicentennials he joined Watford in 1976, where he gained infamy by having the ball headed out of his hands by Andy Gray in the 1984 FA Cup final for Everton's winning goal. He made 211 appearances for Watford and even scored a goal. After he left Watford he joined Grimsby making 183 appearances between 87 and 92. In 1993 he joined Northampton Town, making 16 appearances, and in 1994 went to Lincoln City, from where he joined Celtic. After Celtic he joined Gateshead making 64 appearances before going onto keep goal at Gainsborough in 1997. He is now a financial adviser.
