Buxton had an instant reply through Kirsten Dennis, but Celtic trialist keeper, Will Jones at full stretch, got his hand on the ball to deny the instant equaliser. Celtic perhaps should have been two up when Jody Banim's free kick smacked against the bar and came back to Hobson, but Hartley saved well, only to pull off an even more impressive save as he got across and down to stop Elams from tapping in. It was a case of anything you can, I can do as well, as Buxton's Dennis fired in a shot that Jones tipped onto the post, and then charged down ex Celtic striker Lee Morris as he shot, the rebound falling to Kieren Lungsden who blazed over.
Jody Banim played a great one-two with Elams to go one-on-one with Hartley, but again the Buxton keeper pulled off a good sto, whilst right before the interval, Jones was again at full stretch to deny Dennis.
The second half was not as incident full, but midway through, Buxton drew level after Dennis latched onto a cross and lobbed Jones with pace. Connor Jennings could put Celtic back in front, but was denied again by some good goalkeeping. From the resulting corner, it was Banim's turn to be denied. Joel Bembo-Lita could have capped off his good performance with a cushioned header after the Buxton keeper spilled the ball, but it went agonisingly wide.
Celtic were made to rue the miss when, with five minutes remaining, a flicked header from Lugsden sailed over Jones's hands and into the back of the net.
It was another good performance, with the Buxton goals coming after Celtic were disrupted from a few substitutions.
