Match Report -
Mossley Seel Victory
By Iain Benson

Celtic's second pre-season fixture was at times a tasty affair, and saw the usual litany of changes at half time as formations, positions and players were tried by both sides.

Celtic looked a little off the touch, with their targeting systems needing some tweaking before the season starts. Trialist Bromley put a free kick just wide, for Celtic, and Chippendale used strength and determination, but fired wide of the mark after getting into the box. For Mossley Jamie Blair and Andrew Keogh also misfired in front of goal, whilst Steve Foster's cross-shot had to be tipped over by Lewis King, who had a solid game, ably assisted by a resolute defence.

The second half saw some of last season's retainees appear, with Dickinson, Ennis and Mudimum take to the field, along with some of the other new signings, a smattering of trialists, plus one Phil Marsh, back in a Celtic shirt.

Latest signing Matty Mainwaring put a free kick narrowly wide, before Mossley grabbed the only goal of the game, a corner flung into the back post met by Mike Crosby with a thumping header, so some work still needed on the set pieces!

Paul Ennis almost equalised with a free kick just past the post, but Keogh almost doubled the lead during a scramble in the box where he lifted the ball over Martin in the Celtic goal, but the ball came back off the post. Paul Ennis twice went close, once firing narrowly wide, and again from a free kick firing into the keeper's midriff, so the score remained 1-0.

Celtic squad from: King, Crowley, Morgan, Hughes, Wigley, Sharrat, Cadman, Bromley, McMahon, Chippendale, Robinson, Martin, Regan, Staunton-Turner, Mudimu, Marsh.
