Early Goals Seal Victory
By Iain Benson

Two early goals were enough for Glossop after running out winners, despite Celtic grabbing a goal back.

Glossop went ahead when Chappell came in from the wing to go one-on-one with Ollie Martin who brought Kelvin down, but not before the shot had come in, and Matty Hughes turned it into his own net. Ten minutes later and it was two to the home side, with an excellent chip from Sam Hind from the edge of the box that had Martin stranded and motionless as the ball looped over him and into the net.

Celtic came back strongly, and went close a couple of times before Ramone Blackie beat his man down the line and put a good ball into a crowded box, and Keith Briggs connected, firing beyond the finger tips of the Glossop keeper.

Kirk nearly restored the two goal cushion, but his distance shot skirted wide. Whilst at the other end George Lomax forced the keeper into a sharp save, and moments later firing in a good shot after a mazy run past several Glossop players, and Keith Briggs had a dipping free kick that didn't dip quite far enough, clearing the bar by inches.

The second half saw Glossop slightly the stronger of the two sides, desperately unlucky to see an early shot blocked on the line by kelvin Bleau, whilst a superb stop from Anthony Windle, staying on his feet and blocking the shot when it came, before getting back on his feet and scampering to collect the ball before it crossed the line.

A well worked free kick almost brought Celtic level, Paul Ennis and Sam Staunton-Turner combined with Staunton-Turner's shot requiring a good save to keep Celtic out, and it took a goal line clearance to keep out Sam Robinson.

The last fifteen minutes was all Glossop as they first just cleared the bar with a shot on the turn, hit the bar and forced a full stretch save from Windle.
