Author: Admin - Mon 24 Oct 05Website roving reporter Lauren Hall cornered Reedy at training last week and asked him a few searching questions...
Q: What is the best thing about being at Stalybridge?A: ?It?s a fantastic football club. People thought I was mad for leaving Harrogate when they looked like they could do well in the play-offs to a club with 13 points at the bottom. But here there?s a fantastic set-up and I think this football club could maybe one day be in the Football League?.
Q: And the worst?A: ?Losing. The one thing any manager dreads is losing and I am a bad maybe the worst loser?
Q: If you could pick one player to play for Stalybridge who would it be?A: ?Without a doubt the player every managers wants, Wayne Rooney!?
Q: Do you know where the rumours started about you moving to Scarborough and are they true?A: ?Not at all, I?ve been linked to Scarborough and Scunthorpe but no I?m not leaving, me and Mark are happy to stay?.
Q: What do you think about what people have said on the website?A: ?I?m open to opinions, I think it?s healthy for people to have opinions. Some things that people have said are hurtful but other people have been on there and said some sensible things. I?ve spoken to some other managers who were sat in the stand at Gainsborough, one of them was the York City manager and he said that he hopes his team gets the ball as much as we did. I believe we should have won but that?s the way football goes sometimes?.
Q: What do you do after a game to wind down?A: ?I can?t really wind down after a game. I suppose I just sit down with a whisky and think about the positives and negatives of the game?.
Q: What do you think about Jody Banim since he arrived?A: ?Jody is a wonderful player and a great lad. I know in his first few games he hasn?t been fantastic but you have to learn how to play with him in the side?.
Q: How do you feel about the departure of Smudger?A: ?Of course I?m disappointed. He?s a great lad but to be honest I don?t think he made as much impact when he started as when he came on in the middle of a game?.
Q: Have you got your eye on any other player you could bring to Bower Fold?A: ?I?ve always got my eye out for new players but you?ve got to have passion to play for this club. But you can?t forget we?ve got thirteen new players this season so it?s not going to gel straight away?.
Q: Have you enjoyed your first season at Bower Fold?A: ?Yeah, it?s been a whirlwind year but it?s been fun. I?ve said this before keeping Stalybridge up was one of the best achievements I?ve done, maybe even better than taking a team to Wembley. When my passion for Stalybridge or football stops then maybe that will be the time to leave?.
Q: How do you keep the players in good shape?A: ?That?s all down to Mark Atkins. He?s a fantastic bloke and we are fortunate to have him, he?s got a lot going for him?.
Q: Do you think we have a chance of being promoted this season?A: ?Yeah, I think this team could do well in the play-offs but I?m disappointed we only took two points out of nine this week?.
Q: Who?s the comedian in the dressing room?A: ?Nick Buxton, he?s great with the lads?.
Q: How does Celtic compare with other teams you?ve managed?A: ?It?s by far the best. The fan base is fantastic, the facilities are great and the club is massive?.
Q: What would you be if you weren?t a manager?A: ?Oh that?s a hard one. Probably a chief scout because I love watching football?.
Q: Who would you have as assistant manager if you didn?t have Mark Atkins?A: ?I?d probably have a player coming to the end of their career. I?d probably have a man I?ve worked with for sixteen years, John Kirk?.
Q: Tea or coffee?A: ?I?m a big tea man?.
Q: Quiet night in or night out with the lads?A: ?Quiet night in with my wife?.
Q: Who would you have around for Christmas dinner?A: ?Mark Atkins and his wife Heidi, but none of the players they?re all numpties!?
Q: Stalybridge or Harrogate?A: ?Stalybridge without a doubt?.
Look out for further interviews with key club personnel in the forthcoming weeks!
