Celtic have today announced the signings of striker Liam Dickinson and central defender Matty Hughes.

Liam will need no introduction to the Celtic faithful, having arrived at Bower Fold in March and scoring four goals in 12 appearances.

Matty (22) skippered AFC Fylde to Evostik Premier play-off success last season and lists Rochdale, Glasgow Celtic, Fleetwood and Colwyn Bay among his previous clubs.

Manager Briggs is pleased at the way his summer recruiting is progressing.

"These two signings clearly indicate that we have no intention of suffering the way we did last season. Liam was one of the main driving forces behind the team's end of season revival and he's a pleasure to work with, and I played with Matty at Fleetwood so I know what I'm getting with him. With him and Matt Regan at the heart of the defence we will be much more difficult to break down and I'm delighted we've managed to secure his signature"

The Celts now have a squad of eight definite signings, but with Briggs due to be married shortly there is likely to be little more transfer activity until he returns from Honeymoon.

Welcome to the Fold boys!
