Although I would have sincerely loved to have had Fearny stay in some sort of capacity at Bower Fold, I won't hide my delight in announcing that Briggsy has moved swiftly and that Mark Atkins has agreed to become Keith's official number 2.

For the newer/younger fans who may be unaware, Atko was a bit of a legend for Celtic with both his fabulous 40 yard passes in his cameo appearances and his legendary training sessions.

As a player, Mark has "been there, done that" in that he played 34 games in Blackburn's title winning season under Kenny Dalglish. He moved in to management and as most of you will recall, he and Reedy pulled off the miraculous escape having joined us when we were adrift at the bottom of the table in early January.

Atko then moved on and became the Manager of Matlock where he did a tremendous job for a couple of seasons on a limited budget.

I need to be very clear. This is totally Keith's choice. He hand picked Atko and it is clear that Briggsy is still very much the "gaffer", but I think that although he will miss Fearny's exuberance, Keith - and the squad overall - will very much benefit from Mark's experience.

Welcome back to the Fold Atko, it's great to have you back!
