I'm delighted to announce that Matty Hughes has signed for next season with an option for us to extend that for another season. Matty has been a rock for most of the year and has recently thrived under Liam and Dom. I personally thought that his performance against Gloucester was phenomenal.

We are all delighted to see that he has bought in to what we are trying to achieve and we hope that others will sign up over the coming weeks.

I think Liam could have been forgiven for thinking that he'd taken over a poor squad given our lowly position, but he has told me several times now that he thinks that we've got some really good players, that he will give everyone a chance to impress and he would like to sign up a number of them for next season. Exactly who will depend upon their individual and collective performances over the next couple of weeks.

If I may steal Matty's thread to digress slightly, Liam has been an absolute breath of fresh air to our club. His positivity is infectious and his presence immense. I get a real buzz after speaking to him. He is already 100% planning on a push for Conference North honours next season and there is not a negative thought in his head. He's already lined up a couple of great pre-season friendlies and he's already talking to other players about joining our push for next year.

We are not, of course, out of the woods yet, and our players will be told that in no uncertain terms. But 4 wins and a draw in the five games since Liam and Dom set foot in the door would suggest that if the lads keep reproducing the type of brilliant display that they put on at Nethermoor on Monday, then we will quickly climb the table and we can all start looking forward to an exciting start to next season.

Well done Matty for re-signing, and keep up those colossal performances.
