Centre-back Adam Jones has become Celtic's first summer signing by returning to the club after almost 13 years.

Having played for Curzon Ashton, FC United, Nantwich Town, Hyde United and most recently Glossop since originally leaving Celtic, Adam provides a wealth of experience at this level.

Jones, 31, said: "13 years ago Stalybridge Celtic gave me the chance as an 18-year-old to enter into the Non-League game so they have always been a team close to my heart. As soon as I heard of the interest it was a no brainer for me and agreed immediately.

"Obviously a massive pull was Steve Burr. His reputation is up there with the best in non-league. To play under him and learn from him will be a privilege.

"I'm already really looking forward to pre-season and hopefully bouncing straight back up."

Celtic manager Steve Burr spoke of his pleasure on securing a defender who has the ability to command from the back.

He said: "I'm pleased to land Adam. He's a player with a real aerial presence and someone who wanted to come to the club for the right reasons. He knows this level and what it takes to be successful".
