Stalybridge Celtic is pleased to announce that today we have made 12 signings ahead of the new season including fan favourite Greg Wilkinson!

Manager Simon Haworth has been keeping Celtic fans waiting until everything was certain and he's delighted to announce the big bulk of the squad! I spoke to Simon earlier and this is what he had to say on the announcement "It's been 2 and a half months of hard work and we're delighted by some of the names we've brought in!"

Here's more on who has joined us for the upcoming season:
Stephen Rigby, Full Back Before Simon brought Stephen to Clitheroe, he was plying his trade at St Helens Town. He then went on to have a great season for Clitheroe where he picked up Player of the Year.

Callum Spooner, Full Back Technically Callum is an ex-Celt although he was only with us for one game, in which he was an un-used substitute vs Curzon Ashton. He was with us on a youth loan from Bolton Wanderers and since then he was released and joined Ramsbottom United for a month and then spent the rest of the season with Glossop North End.

Jack Taylor, Full Back Jack also joins from last season. He was plying his trade in Sweden before joining Celtic and also made 10 appearances for the Celts. Jack started his career at Morecambe and has had spells at Atherton LR and New Mills.

Ross Dent, Midfielder Ross re-joined Simon at Clitheroe during October last season for his second spell at the club. He went on to win Players' Player of the season and become a key feature in Simon's side and has joined Celtic and team back up with Simon and Gaz.

Charlie Duke, Midfielder/Right Back Charlie started his career at Port Vale before moving to Torquay United where he signed a pro contract whilst plying his trade on loan spells at Prescot Cables and St Helens Town. He then signed for Rushall Olympic at the start of last season, before moving to Marine and finishing the season at Kidsgrove Athletic.

Glenn Rule, Midfielder - Glenn will be a familiar face to Celtic fans, he made 37 appearances under Jim Harvey before he decided to move back to Wales. After making over 100 appearances for Airbus UK, he joined Stockport County until 2017 where he went back to Airbus UK for a short second stint and finishing the season at Bala Town.

Billy Akrigg, Midfielder Described as a tenacious player with a good engine, Billy joins us from Lancaster City where he spent 5 seasons after joining them from local side Slyne.

Greg Wilkinson, Midfielder A firm fan favourite has joined us again for another season at Celtic. He made 31 appearances for us last season including a cracking goal vs Warrington. Having made 196 appearances for the Celts, he sits 9th on the all-time appearance list.

Lee Knight, Forward Joins after being with Bradford PA last season, where he had spells on-loan at Ashton United and Halesowen where he notched in some important goals for the latter towards the end of last season. He has god non-league experience despite being just 20 years old.

Scott Harries, Winger Scott is also another player who has been at Clitheroe but left in 2016 where he went on to play for Warrington Town. Since then, Scott's played for Lancaster City and finished the season with Squires Gate.

John Marsden, Forward - John joins us after leaving AFC Telford United. He has met Celtic a few times previously after playing for the likes of Stockport County, Macclesfield, Lincoln and Southport.

Josh Ramsden, Forward - After making the step-up from our reserves last season, Josh was one of the players who played during the hectic schedule towards the end of last season making 10 appearances. He re-joins us again this season.
