Celtic manager Simon Haworth was thrilled as he spoke after thrashing Scarborough Athletic 5-1 at Bower Fold to give Celtic their first three points of the season.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be honest, it was an impressive performance, the score line doesn't flatter us.

"First half we could have been three or four up, the fact that we've gone and got five is a fair result in my opinion, I thought we were excellent but that's more of the team we've seen for the last couple of months in pre-season.

"Against Mickleover we we weren't aggressive, we weren't on the front foot, but we should have come away with something. The officiating was some of the worst I've seen in 20 years, but that doesn't hide that we weren't at our best, we sort of wrote it off as a one off and tonight was much more in keeping with what we've seen.

"It's a great group of lads who work hard, stick together and showed their quality tonight, so I'm thrilled for them."

Celtic scored five superb goals past a side that many have tipped to be at the top end of the table, goals came from Craig Hobson, Kallum Mantack, Ross Dent, Declan Walker and Liam MacDevitt. However the manager insists the players must remain grounded: "We'll keep our feet on the ground and keep working but it's a real, real good display and the fans seemed to enjoy it and the lads are thrilled, just a good night all round."

On Celtic's attacking display: "It could have been five first half, we should have had a penalty, their keeper was making saves and Scott's gone through and had a one on one that he's fired over but it was the most dominant display since my time of taking over."

We'll enjoy tonight and rest, and then we'll do a bit of training on Thursday as we have an important game on Saturday."
