Stalybridge Celtic Academy will be holding it's next trial game this coming Monday at Stockport Sports Village, Lambeth Grove, Woodley, SK6 1QX. Current Year 11 pupils who will be leaving school this summer and want to combine a well - rounded football and education experience are welcome to attend.

Our Academy is headed by First Team Manager Simon Haworth, supported by First Team Goalkeeping Coach Phil Jackson and Club Physio Dave Pover. The Academy team plays in the National League u19s Alliance against high class opposition including Tranmere, Rochdale, Wrexham and Fylde). With our education partner Tameside College, we provide football development with our students studying a Level 3 or Level 2 BTEC in Sport course. Our first team squad this season has included a number of ex Academy students (Mark Lees, Mark Pearson, Khalid Kharusa) and not to forget Darius Osei came through our Academy.

Obviously, only a minority go on to become a full time or semi pro footballer but we see an excellent progression rate into university or full time employment in the sports industry. And with some students, we see the 'football' side act as a motivator for them to improve their academic application - so opening up better prospects for themselves.

Trial attendees should register in advance and can do so via icanbe.click/212 and should bring 3G boots, kit and a drink for a 2pm prompt start on Monday.
