Celtic are thrilled to announce the signing of forward Mike Burke from Staveley Miners Welfare.

Mike has had a prolific season for the Northern Counties East League side, scoring 21 goals in 21 games in all competitions last season, helping Staveley to top spot in the Premier Division.

On joining Celtic, Mike said: "Stalybridge is where I first started playing football when I was six years old. As soon as the opportunity to come here and play at Bower Fold was available, it was a chance I couldn't turn down."

Simon Haworth explained his delight at bringing Mike to the club: "I'm thrilled to sign Mike Burke. He's a real goal-scorer and has scored plenty of goals for Staveley Miners.

"I'm glad to have him signed up for the season, as goal scorers can be rare to find, to have him on the books is a massive plus for us.

"We've done a couple of sessions already in preparation for next season and he's shown up really well fitness wise and he is another one who fits in to the bracket of what we are trying to do. He's 23 years of age, fit, really hungry to succeed and he can score all types of goals."
