Stalybridge Celtic is pleased to seal signing of defender Cole Lonsdale on loan from Ashton United.

The 24-year-old joins the Club on an initial four week loan and bolsters James Kinsey’s defensive options.

Having made over 75 appearances for The Robins since joining Celtic’s neighbours in February 2022, Cole has earned plaudits for his set-piece ability and has five goals to his name.

Upon joining Celtic, Cole tells us: “‘I can’t wait to get back playing regular football and hope that I’m able to contribute as much as I can for the team and the Club during my time here.”

James Kinsey adds: “Cole is a natural left-back that will bring great balance into our side.

“We have been unfortunate to lose Jack Tinning to a long term injury, who we felt was going to be brilliant for us. We’re working hard to get Jack back but Cole will provide a great option for us to be stronger as a group going forward.

“Cole was really keen to come in and that is everything we could ask for. We’re looking forward to working with him.”

Cole began his career at Bolton Wanderers and spent time with FC United of Manchester and Lancaster City. He then joined Clitheroe in 2021 before joining Ashton in 2022 where he has been since, featuring against Celtic last season at Bower Fold as Ashton ran out comfortable winners.

We’d like to thank Ashton United for allowing Cole to join the Club.

Welcome to Celtic, Cole!
