Stalybridge Celtic is excited to confirm the arrival of Joe Robbins on loan from Ashton United.

The 21-year-old midfielder arrives on an initial four week loan and joins Cole Lonsdale in making the switch to Bower Fold.

Manager James Kinsey tells us: “We are really happy to add Joe to the group. Tom Thorpe is unfortunately out for the season, so we were looking to add some more quality to the midfield again.

“Joe will bring that and also has a winning mentality to match that. We’re appreciative to Ashton for making this happen quickly, and we look forward to having him in with us from this weekend.”

Having started his career in the academy at Crewe Alexandra, Joe signed a professional contract in 2020 and made his debut for Crewe, scoring in a 3-0 win over Wolves U21’s in the EFL Trophy.

Joe spent a large part of the 2021-22 season on loan at Nantwich Town, scoring a hat-trick at Bower Fold in Nantwich’s win over Celtic in February 2022.

Joe signed permanently for Nantwich before joining Ashton in 2022. He then spent the second half of last season with NPL play-off semi finalists Bamber Bridge playing 20 games, before re-joining Ashton this summer under Steve Cunningham.

Having featured eight times this season for Ashton, Joe now links up with James Kinsey’s side to face his former Club Nantwich Town tomorrow.

Discounted tickets for this fixture are still available to buy up until 2pm tomorrow. Adult tickets are priced at £5 with 15-18yrs £1. These can be purchased here.
