Stalybridge Celtic is delighted to officially confirm the signings of midfielder Jordan Butterworth and striker Benito Lowe from Bury FC.

Jordan joins us permanently for the remainder of the season with Benito arriving on loan until the end of the season.

The duo, both aged 25, both follow in the footsteps of their fathers, with Jordan’s dad Gary Butterworth playing 148 games for Stalybridge Celtic and Benito’s dad, the late Gary Lowe featuring for the Club in 1987.

Jordan spent the last three seasons with Mossley where he excelled and earned a move to Bamber Bridge. He joined Bury mid-way through this season, where he’s played 20 times.

James Kinsey said: “We’ve been looking for a central player for some weeks now but we’ve just not been able to find the right player.

“When the opportunity to sign Jordan came up, we really wanted to bring him in as he is someone we have wanted previously.

“Jordan is keen to enjoy his football and really wanted to join the Club. Jordan’s dad (Gary Butterworth) played for the Club previously and has had good times here, and is also excited to be part of the Club again. We’ve discussed our long-term aims and we’re really happy that he has decided to join us at an exciting time.”

Benito’s arrival at Celtic sees him sign for his hometown Club and he joins after scoring 16 goals in 18 games for Bury this season, 14 of which were starts.

Last year, he found the back of the net 22 times in 34 games with Wythenshawe Town and has previously featured for Curzon Ashton and New Mills.

James Kinsey said: “Benito is somebody that I was desperate to bring in last summer but it was too late as he had already signed with Bury before we joined Celtic. He is a Stalybridge lad and will give everything for the shirt.

“When he’s at it, I don’t believe there are many better 9’s around. There were a few clubs trying to sign him but he has chosen to come and represent his hometown club for the remainder of this season. We’ve obviously worked with him previously too which helps with us going into the final few games of the season”.

Welcome to Celtic, Jordan and Benito!
