Ahead of our final two away games of January, the Club is required to remind our loyal supporters that the use of pyrotechnics at any ground is illegal, puts the Club at severe risk of punishment and is dangerous to supporter safety.
This is a serious matter which the Club does not wish to take further, but will be required to do so if this persists.
Being in possession of a pyrotechnic device (flare, smoke bomb or firework) at a football match, or attempting to bring a pyrotechnic device into a football stadium, is a criminal offence under the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc) Act 1985.
We urge supporters to not use pyrotechnics at games and would like to reiterate that the use of pyrotechnics is illegal and does not show support for the Club but does the opposite by putting both supporters and the Club at risk, will cost the Club money in fines and puts the Club at risk of punishment from the FA.
New policies, procedures, and regulations have come into force from the start of the 2023/24 season issued by the FA which the Club fully supports. We apply a zero-tolerance approach to anyone attempting to bring such device(s) into Bower Fold and fully support the FA and Northern Premier League's campaign and as a Club, we will take a firm stance against any supporter(s) who is found to be in possession of pyrotechnics either at Bower Fold or when we play away from home.
It isn’t just the damage that supporters can do to one another which should be a deterrent. Supporters can be prosecuted in court and then given a football banning order if found guilty. However, in some instances, a custodial sentence can be given, depending on the nature and severity of the incident.
To protect all supporters, CCTV is in operation at Bower Fold and the Club reserves the right to search supporters and/or their effects.
Please support Celtic safely and responsibly. We thank all supporters for their co-operation.
