Barry signed from Chorley, but had played for an impressive number of clubs prior to that. He started at Barrow, making 50 appearances and 7 goals between 1977 and 1980. Until 1982 he made 70 appearances and 24 goals for Workington and joined Oulun Palloseura for a season with 15 appearances and 4 goals. In 1982 he went back to Barrow for a further 50 appearances and 36 goals until 1984 when he moved to Rochdale making 52 appearances and scoring 16 times, being sent out on loan to Barrow and Stockport County in 1985 - where he earned two penalties for Stockport against Rochdale, and allegedly laughed at the fans, making him a very unpopular player there, he was immediately transfer listed and in 1986 he joined Halifax Town, making 22 appearances and scoring 3 times, with a loan spell at Wrexham in 1987. After falling out of favour at Halifax too, he joined Gainsborough Trinity, Morecambe and Colne Dynamos in the space of a couple of months in 1987, before settling at Mossley for a spell in 1988. A brief stint at Hyde before a move to Altrincham in 1989. In 19909 he joined us via Chorley. After leaving us, he joined Rossendale United, and then Horwich RMI in 1993, and finished his career back at Mossley.
