Match Preview :- Warrington Town - Saturday October 9th, 2010 (15:00:00)
Celtic are back on the FA Cup trail on Saturday when we travel to Warrington Town?s Cantilever Park (kick off 3pm) for the Third Qualifying round game. Warrington are currently ninth in the Evo-Stick First Division (North) two levels below Celtic on thirteen points having been docked three points for fielding an ineligible player. There is a coach to this match, and there will be a live match centre.

Warrington have won four and drawn four of their opening nine league matches, their only defeat this season coming away from home at Garforth Town in their last match on Tuesday night, which they lost 3-0. This is the only game that they have not scored in. In other competitions, Warrington progressed to the third qualifying round by dispatching Parkgate at their first attempt, away from home beating the lower league team 301. Next up, they were away again, this time at Bamber Bridge, holding the Lancastrians to a 1-1 draw to take them back to Cantilever Park where they have an unbeaten record this season, and beat them 4-2. In the FA Trophy, it is a different story, and Warrington fell at the first hurdle, losing 2-1 away at Shepshed Dynamo.

Warrington score an average of 1.7 goals a game overall (two goals a game at home), with their best result being a 4-0 win away at Lancaster, matched by a 4-0 home win over Harrogate Railway. They concede an average of a goal per game overall (0.7 goal a game at home), with their worse result being the 3-0 away defeat at Garforth. Warrington?s top scorer is Tony Evans with eight goals, including two hat-tricks against Lancaster and Harrogate Railway. His closest rival is Gavin Salmon on six. Warrington?s other three goals have come from Chris Gahgan (two) and Tom Rutter (one).

We have met Warrington town on a couple of occasions in the past twenty years or so, knocking them out of the FA Cup at their place twice in the past with a 3-0 score-line back in 1992 (2nd Qualifying) and again in 1993 with a 1-0 score-line (3rd Qualifying), and knocking them out of the Cheshire Senior Cup in 1999 with a 2-0 score-line at Bower Fold.

Warrington town?s goal keeper is Paul Pritchard, a former Welsh youth international, who was sent off in their last match, the 3-0 defeat away at Garforth Town. The suspension for that does not kick in until 16th October, so he is eligible to play. In that match, Warrington lined up as:
1. Paul Pritchard
2. Mike Duffy
3. Louis Corrigan
4. Tom Hardwick
5. Mike Tomlinson
6. Adam Wade
7. Rob Hardwick
8. Gareth Farrelly
9. Jon Bathurst
10. Gavin Salmon
11. Chris Gahgan

Tim Ryan is a doubt after pulling up against Alfreton, but Celtic have no suspensions ahead of Saturday. Celtic?s last match was the Cheshire Senior cup that saw a team comprising mainly of Celtic reserves. In their last match for the first team, the 2-1 home defeat to Alfreton, Celtic lined up as:
1. Jan Budtz
2. Glen Rule
3. Andy McWilliams
4. Tim Ryan
5. Alan White
6. Jack Rea
7. Greg Wilkinson
8. Craig Hobson
9. Connor Jennings
10. Lloyd Ellams
11. Adam Kay

Celtic will not be taking Warrington town lightly, despite the two league difference between the two teams. Failures to progress against lower league teams in Celtic?s recent history, including the Durham result, still smart in the memory. The automated prediction algorithm basically guesses when the teams are in different leagues, and has guessed a 1-0 win for Celtic in this game.
