On Saturday, weather permitting, Celtic travel to Chasetown. Chasetown are currently ninth in the league on twenty-five points, one places and two points behind Celtic with six games in hand. Kick-off 3pm.
Chasetown are in a false position and a long way behind most of the league in terms of games. The fact they are not far away in terms of points is down to their results. Nobody has lost fewer matches than Hednesford’s three and they have played the fewest matches. With a points per game of 1.79, if they carried that form on to catch up in games played, they would be fourth. They have lost only once at home, a 2-1 defeat by Trafford. With five wins, they’ve picked up seventeen points from a possible twenty-four. Compared to their away form, where they have won two of their six matches, beating Runcorn and Kidsgrove.
Eighteen of their twenty-seven goals have come at home at a rate of 2.2 goals per game (1.9 overall) and they have scored in every home game this season. Their two clean sheets have both come at home, and they concede 1.1 goals per home game, 1.6 overall. They have the third best home defence and the fourth best home attack. Jack Langston’s seven goals put him as seventh top league scorer (Joe Duckworth is second). Their most prolific period is the half hour mark, whilst the end of the first half is their most vulnerable.
We’ve played Chasetown twice in the league and knocked them out of the FA Cup in 2015, though we needed a replay. In the league, they have beaten us twice, home and away, both games finishing 1-0.
In Chasetown’s last match, the 2-0 away lost at Vauxhall, Chasetown lined up as:
1. Curtis Pond
2. Oli Hayward
3. Jordan Evans
4. Kieron Fenton
5. Kris Taylor
6. Mitchell Clarke
7. Lewi Burnside
8. Joseph Thompson
9. Danny Glover
10. Danny O’Callaghan
11. Joey Butlin
In Celtic’s last match, the 3-2 home defeat to Runcorn, Celtic lined up as:
1. James McClenaghan
2. Jordan Butterworth
3. Kyle Brownhill
4. Jack Irlam
5. Aaron Chalmers
6. Jack Tinning
7. Brandon Newell
8. Liam Tongue
9. Joe Duckworth
10. Max Leonard
11. Lewis Rawthorn
Celtic are coming into this game on the back of a morale boosting win, but need to keep it going against another team in a false position in the league. Jack Tinning is suspended after his sending off against Runcorn, However Javid Swaby-Neavin is again available.
