Celtic recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory over Stockport Town in their fourth pre-season friendly, with Jack Irlam and Josh Quarless both scoring twice.
From the off, Celtic’s pressure told, and Josh Quarless harried the two centre backs, forcing a mistake just eight minutes in, and made no mistake rolling the ball past an on-rushing keeper after winning the ball.
Two minutes later, and Jack Irlam latched onto a cross into a crowded box to half-turn and connect on the volley, with a fantastic strike that could have been the goal of the game to make it two nil.
After that, Celtic stroked it about well enough, keeping Stockport Town at bay, and didn't come under much pressure. Celtic's only other real chance came from a corner where Sean Tse headed the ball harder than most people can kick it, requiring a decent stop from the home keeper.
In the second half, and Celtic again started strong. Ten minutes in, and Irlam found himself free down the middle with the keeper and defence stranded, making the finish look effortless to score his second.
Four minutes later and Moses Masaba won the ball on the wing, putting the ball across to an unmarked Quarless who side-stepped the keeper and walked the ball home to also record his brace.
Goal of the match went to a trialist for the home team. Twenty-five yards out, fed up of getting no joy getting past Lafferty, Tinning and Tse, he produced a curling rocket of a shot that zipped into the top corner. Despite Monk getting a fingertip to the shot, he couldn’t keep it out and the game finished 4-1.
