Pre-season is about fitness, sharpness, teamwork and evaluation and the match against New Mills will give James Kinsey plenty of information, except for the goalkeepers, who barely had any work to do, with the Celtic back-line imperious.
The goal came from an attacking throw, coming to Jack Tinning to nod in the only goal of the match. Celtic had already hit the woodwork, and looked the more likely to score. Overall, the first half saw a variety of crisp, quick passes, which made the team look like they’d played together for years. The second half saw the usual wholesale changes, keeping the same vein. The bright spot of the second half saw Moses consistently out-pace everybody on the pitch, and also forced a decent stop from the New Mills keeper.
It might be all about the evaluation, but it’s nice to kick off with a win.
