Celtic’s final preparation for the upcoming season ended with Hyde lifting the Ray Stanley trophy.

Ellis Horan got two great chances early doors, with Yusuf Mersin denying him both times, the second save showing the Hyde keeper’s quality. Between the two Horan efforts, Hyde went ahead, with a disappointing goal to concede Jack Redshaw lofted a half clearance back into the mix. Charlie Monks got a hand to Shakeel Jones-Griffith’s low shot, but it squirmed in. Liam Tongue and Benni Smales-Braithwaite both had half chances, but failed to equalise and Celtic paid the price, going two behind. Bursting pas the offside trap in familiar fashion, Lewis Rawsthorn’s got an initial shot past Monks. Rawsthorn’s shot was cleared off the line by Jack Byrne, only for that clearance to hit Antoine Makoli in the face and go into the back of the net, but they all count.

Not much happened in the second half, the best chance fell to Horan, driving a shot moments before the end that required a good stop from Mersin.
