Droylsden take the initiative
By Six Yard Sam
Celtic started slowly, and the first half was all Droylsden. Gareth Morris was bossing the midfield for the Bloods, and it was he who set up Steve Daly to open the scoring. In a bit of a mental lapse for the Celtic defence, Daly was allowed to put the ball through the defence for Chris Denham running in diagonally to coolly slot the ball under Paddy Gamble.

Celtic got into gear in the second half, and some good work from Chris Hall enabled him to hold the ball up for Ashley Burbeary, who was able to take advantage of a bit more space to smash a shot past Phillips. Celtic went looking for an equaliser, but were unable to find one.
