
Macclesfield born Chris started his career at Crewe Alexandra, graduating and joining the academy at Chester in 2005. He graduated form the Chester in 2006 into the first team, going onto make forty-seven appearances and score four times, during his two seasons there. In 2008, with a year still on his contract at Chester, Chris moved to Cambridge United, where he scored twenty-two goals in sixty appearances for the Conference National outfit, including on his debut against Rushden and Diamonds and netting four against Chester to overturn a 2-0 losing position. He caught the attention of Brighton and Hove Albion in 2010, moving to the League One side for an undisclosed fee. During the season he played there, he made sixteen appearances for Brighton, whilst also being loaned out to Stevenage (twelve appearances and six goals, including his debut) and Bury (one goal in four appearances). After his release from Brighton, he joined Rotherham, going on to score once in fifteen games. in 2012, Preston North End bought him, making twenty appearances and scoring once. During that season he scored seven for Macclesfield in nineteen loan appearances. 2013 saw a brief move to Morecambe scoring once in sixteen games, before returning to Macclesfield, this time permanently. Over four seasons, he made one hundred and forty-three appearances and scoring twenty-three goals with a hattrick against Stockport. In 2017 Chris joined Wrexham, where he played for two seasons, making sixty appearances and scoring sixteen goals. In 2019 he joined Chorley to try and help stave off relegation, scoring almost one in two with five goals in eleven appearances.
