Match Preview :- Gainsborough Trinity - Tuesday September 6th, 2016 (19:45:00)

On Tuesday night, Celtic and their new co-manager duo of Paul Phillips and Steve Halford, face Gainsborough Trinity in a must win match. Kick off 7:45pm – there will be a match centre for this game.

Gainsborough have a win and three draws under their belt so far this season, three more points than Celtic who sit at the bottom on goal difference. On Saturday, they got their first point of the season on the road, drawing 2-2 with Worcester City, prior to that, on the road, they have lost 4-0 at Alfreton, 4-1 at Gloucester and 3-2 at Salford. Their one win this season was at home to fellow strugglers, Altrincham.

Last season they finished sixteenth - their current position. They finished four places and three points below Celtic, having won the same number of games, but drawing three less. Their top scorer was Nathan Jarman, with eleven goals, four ahead of his rival for the Golden boot, Marc Newsham. Out of twenty-one away games, they won six and drew two.

Their last win at Bower Fold was in February 2009, when they won 2-1 (Andrew Smart with Celtic's goal). Since then, out of the six visits to Bower Fold, Celtic have won four and drawn two, the two draws being Trinity's last two visits, including the nail biting 4-4 draw on the last day of the season two seasons ago. Last season's visit was a 0-0 draw. Trinity last beat Celtic when we went to Gainsborough at the start of last season, a game they won 3-1, Adam Farrell with Celtic's goal.

Trinity's previous match, the 2-2 away draw at Worcester saw them drop a two goal half time lead. In that match, they lined up as:
1. Jonathon Hedge
2. Jake Scott
3. Josh Lacey
4. Matt Wilson
5. Ioan Evans
6. Adam Quinn
7. Darnelle Bailey-King
8. Matt Thornhill
9. Ashley Worsfold
10. Jacob Hazel
11. Gavin Rothery

Celtic now have seven consecutive losses, four consecutive home losses (eight and five, including last season's home defeat to Boston). The last time we won at home was a 2-0 defeat over North Ferriby at the start of April. We have scored four this season, and conceded nineteen. Celtic's only injury worry now, is Callum Bagshaw, the rest of the squad available for selection, including the two new additions Jay Gorton (Defence) and Danny Wilkins (Forward). In our last match, the 4-0 defeat at home to Nuneaton Town, Celtic lined up as:
1. Tony McMillan
2. Peter Wylie
3. Graham Kelly
4. Matty Hughes
5. Nick Ryan
6. Aaron Chalmers
7. Jimmy Ball
8. Danny Wisdom
9. Andy Owens
10. Steve Tames
11. Henoc Mukendi

Celtic desperately need to get a win. We have a good record against Trinity in recent years. Like us, they are struggling – this is a chance to get three points on the board and move out of the bottom three as the ten game mark approaches.
