Celtic Knocked Out Of The FA Cup After Suffering A 0-2 Defeat At Home To Marine
By Taran Dhamrait

Celtic hosted Marine for an Emirates FA Cup First Round Qualifier.

Marine had beaten Padiham mid-week whilst Celtic had defeated West Didsbury & Chorlton.
Celtic started the better side and after four minutes, had the ball in the back of the net but the referee said Scott had committed a foul in the build up.

After seven minutes, Bakkor did well to pick out Declan Walker, he drilled a low cross in from the right but couldn't quite pick out a Celtic attacker.

On 17 minutes, Liam MacDevitt, starting for the first time this season, used his pace well to latch onto a through ball, he beat the keeper however his effort was cleared off the line.

Celtic had most of the ball and were looking the more promising side however it was Marine who took the lead.

Josh Solomon-Davies did well to cross from the right, he found captain Niall Cummins who slotted the ball past Fojticek, Marine lead with their first clear chance.

Nathan Valentine, Tony Whitehead and Neil Kengni all had efforts at goal saved by Liverpool loanee Shamal George but Celtic couldn't find an equaliser.

Just before half-time, Valentine was picked out in space by Kengni, he fired a powerful shot towards goal which was superbly tipped over by George.

Marine went into half-time ahead with Celtic feeling unlucky.

The second half started with Celtic looking for an equaliser, they had to be careful though as Marine looked dangerous on the counter attack.

Celtic had a header cleared off the line from a corner although Fojticek still had to be alert for Marine's attacks on the break.

A Marine attacker was through on goal but Fojticek raced out and saved the attackers shot with his feet.

With 20 minutes to go, Greg Wilkinson went for goal from miles out and saw his effort tipped over the goal, so close to a wonder goal.

Marine were always threatening on the break and with just five minutes to go, the away side doubled their lead. A mirror image to the first goal, a cross was prodded home by an attacker.

There was just four added minutes but Celtic couldn't find a goal.

Celtic were knocked out of the FA Cup 2-0.

Celtic are next in action away against Basford United on Monday September 9.

Congratulations to Marine who progress through to the next round.
