Celtic Can't Find A Way Past In A Competitive Pre Season Friendly
By Taran Dhamrait

Celtic faced Glossop in a competitive pre-season friendly but neither side could find the breakthrough.

Jon Ustabasi saw a penalty saved in a game, which required a drinks break to deal with the high temperatures.

The hosts made a fast start to the game and Tom Stewart was called in to action after 13 minutes, saving a bullet header from the back post.

Glossop continued to push forward and their left-back found himself free inside Celtic's penalty area however he sliced his shot well wide.

Glossop's number six then tried two long-range efforts but both were well dealt with by Stewart.

Celtic did manage to grow in to the game and Ben Woods was unlucky, firing a shot in to the side netting after breaking free down the left-hand side.

Just after the half hour mark, Celtic were gifted the chance to go ahead. Krisel Prifti delivered a free-kick from 30 yards in to the box, a Glossop defender pushed Kyle Hawley to the floor and Celtic were awarded a penalty.

Jon Ustabasi stepped up but Dale Latham was on hand to deny Celtic the lead, diving to his left.

That was to be Ustabasi's last action of the half as he suffered an injury on half-way. He was replaced by a Trialist.

Straight after the restart, Stewart was called in to action again. Celtic's keeper was on hand to tip an effort from just outside the box over the bar for a corner.

The chances throughout the second-half were few and far between, on 56 minutes the ball fell nicely for Harry Freedman to the right of the penalty area, he connected sweetly but couldn't get the power behind the shot and Latham saved.

Nine minutes from time, Celtic had a huge chance. One of the substitute Trialists was able to cut in field from the left but he could only fire straight at the keeper.
