Steve joins from Northwich Victoria, a club he joined in July 2005 after leaving Macclesfield Town due to a stress fracture curtailing his league career. He started at Huddersfield, but at the end of his time in the reserves there, he joined Macclesfield on loan in 1994, before making the move permanent and helping Macclesfield to successive promotions into the Football league. In 1999 after nearly a century of appearances for the Silkmen, he joined Chesterfield and went on to become something of a Spirite legend, making over 175 appearances and scoring ten goals. After his five year tenure ended, he returned to Macclesfield in 2004 and completed his century of appearances before joining Vics. After a season at Celtic that saw him take us to the play-off final with consistently solid performances, he needed to be closer to his family, and joined Halifax.
