Celtic took the lead, lost it, regained it and ran on to win a game they thoroughly deserved to win.
Alfreton started strongly, utilising the exceptionally long throw of Niall Heaton, causing havoc in the Celtic box; though he had an early chance of his own that Tony McMillan smothered. From one such throw Dan Bradley saw McMillan put out a hand to divert his shot over the bar. Alfreton were pressing, looking for the opener, and it was something of a break out by Celtic that saw them move the ball quickly, Bohan Dixon flicking on into the path of Steve Tames who sliced through the box an fired a low skimming shot past Matt Duke to give Celtic the lead with their first attack of the game.
For over quarter of an hour, Alfreton looked a little rattled and devoid of ideas, relying too heavily on Heatonís long throw. However, from one such throw, level with the box, Jordan Robertson evaded the defence long enough to side foot the throw into the goal.
Alfreton started the second half strong enough, but couldnít probe their way past the Celtic defence, with Sam Jonesís effort the best of the chance. Meanwhile, it looked like Celtic had done it again, Steve Tames latching onto Alex Johnsonís ball, pulling it back for Adam Farrell to nod home. There was confusion exactly as to whom was offside, as nobody was, but the goal was ruled off.
It did not matter because Celtic again sliced apart the Alfreton defence with a rocket of a shot from Adam Farrell that thumped against the post, Steve Tames collected the ball, got clattered by Todd Jordan, but kept his feet, turned and slotted home.
With minutes, Adam Farrell again had it the post, if anything, it was even more powerful. That was cleared, but Celtic kept coming. From somewhere, Alex Johnson found the energy to latch onto Adam Farrellís ball, and he gave Celtic a two goal cushion and make it yet another away game Celtic have scored three goals in.
