Match Report -
Nothing to play for
By Keith Trudgeon

Stalybridge Celtic wound up what has been a frustrating season with a goal-less draw at Leek on Bank Holiday Monday.

Steve Jones, making a return to his former club, was closest to breaking the deadlock. He won a header against the powerful John Diskin, turned and sprinted clear before bringing a good save from ex-Celtic number one Mark Statham.

The defences were on top throughout in a match devoid of any goal mouth action and, aside from a header from Adrian Callan, Leek didn't mount a serious threat either.

The match therefore, was nothing much to write about although there were a few heated exchanges with both teams having more than their fair share of tough tackles.

Roll on next season!
