Match Preview :- Vauxhall Motors - Tuesday August 24th, 2010 (19:45:00)
Tonight Celtic face Vauxhall Motors in the Blue Square Bet Conference North (kick off 7:45pm). This is a Celtic Curry Night, a popular event that opens up the Sponsors Lounge to let people have a three course meal, a match day programme, use of the bar, and entry to the ground for a mere ?15. This starts at 6:15pm, and there are a few spaces left. There will be a live match centre for this game.

Vauxhall have had a torrid start to the season, continuing from where they left off, starting with three back to back defeats, away at Ilkeston, and two at home to Telford and Worcester. They did not win away from home at all last season, meaning the last time that they won away from home was the beginning of April 2009, when they beat Blyth 1-0. They last beat Celtic at Rivacre park in their penultimate home game of last season, a game that they won 3-2, however, their last visit to Bower Fold saw them lose 3-1. Although Vauxhall have not beaten Celtic in the Conference North at Bower Fold, they have twice knocked us out of the Cheshire Senior Cup here, with their last win at Bower Fold in that competition, in November 2007. In the league, their best recent result was a 3-3 draw in October 2006. All in all, in ten visits, they have won three (twice in the Cheshire Senior Cup and once in the Unibond Premier).

Last season, their top scorer was Karl Noon, who bagged ten goals, with Alex Wilson hot on his heels with nine. In total, they scored forty-eight goals, with an average of 0.7 goals per game away (1.1 overall) and conceded eighty-seven goals with an average of 2.2 away from home (2 overall). They kept two clean sheets on the road (five in total) and failed to score in nine away games (thirteen overall). Their most vulnerable period was just before the half hour, when they conceded twenty-one goals, whilst their most dangerous period was in the same period with eleven goals scored. They had the second worse defensive record with one goal less than Redditch scored, whilst they also had the second worse attack with just four more than Harrogate.

Vauxhall have a hot shot striker on loan, Obi Onouro from Wrexham, as well as former Celtic players Neil Prince and Lee Dodgson on their books. Vauxhall have nobody suspended or injured ahead of the match, and lined up in Saturday?s 3-2 defeat to Worcester City as:
1. Scott Tynan
2. Chris Noone
3. Lee Dames
4. Andy Taylor
5. Rob Marsh-Evans
6. Brian Moogan
7. Neil Prince
8. Keith Smith
9. Obi Anouro
10. Josh Wilson
11. Tom Grice

Celtic are also suspension free, and should be fully fit ahead of the match. Celtic lined up in Saturday?s 5-2 defeat to Hinckley as:
1. Jan Budtz
2. Glen Rule
3. Andy McWilliams
4. Jack Rea
5. Laquan Esdaille
6. Kristian Platt
7. Jody Banim
8. Greg Wilkinson
9. Phil Marsh
10. Craig Hobson
11. Connor Jennings

Celtic need to bounce back from the defeat at Hinckley and rebuild some confidence ahead of Saturday?s trip to Nuneaton Town and the visit of big spending Harrogate Town on Monday, and although Vauxhall have a tendency to find us at low points, the automated prediction algorithm is suggesting a 3-2 win for Celtic.
