On Tuesday, Celtic have their opening home match of the season when 1874 Northwich are the visitors. Kick-off is 7:45pm.

Last season, Northwich avoided the relegation play offs by one point, finishing on forty-five points, level with Newcastle Town, but with a better goal ratio to finish in fourteenth. In total, they won twelve, drew nine and lost seventeen of their thirty-eight matches. Most of the matches they lost were on the road, losing eleven away from home. Only bottom placed Ramsbottom lost more matches away. However, in the games that they did win away, they beat champions Macclesfield (drawing the reverse fixture). In their last ten matches, they have won three, beating Glossop, Skelmersdale and City of Liverpool. They lost the other seven, including their most recent match, the season opener at home to Kidsgrove Athletic, which they lost 6-2.
Northwich are out of the FA Cup having played an extra preliminary round against Ossett United before the season started, losing 2-0.
Last season’s top scorer Joe Wolley got twelve league goals, with his closest rival Mackenzie O’Neill on eight. Ironically, Wolley was one of the four players for Kidsgrove who scored against Northwich. Third top scorer, Jack Irlam, is still with Northwich and has already netted one this season.
Celtic have never played 1874 Northwich, which was created by disillusioned Northwich Victoria fans in 2012.
Northwich’s last match, the 6-2 home defeat by Kidsgrove, saw them line up as:
1. Ellis Allen
2. Benji Mullarkey
3. Jason Akiotu
4. Matthew Fenton
5. Mark Jones
6. Lucas Weir
7. Jamie Nicholson
8. Matthew Wolley
9. Gabe Ellis
10. Jack Irlam
11. Gabriel Mooney-Munoz
In Celtic’s last match, the 2-1 away win over Hanley Town, Celtic lined up as:
1. Elliot Wynne
2. Michael Brewster
3. Jordan Burton
4. Brandon Newell
5. Connor O’Grady
6. Greg Wilkinson
7. Aaron Dwyer
8. Charlie Doyle
9. Matty Bryan
10. Max Harrop
11. Obua Mugalula
Former Celtic players at Hanley are Gabriel Mooney-Munoz, who played for Celtic in pre-season. Elliot Wynne’s red card means he will miss Saturday’s match away at Runcorn, but it available for selection on Tuesday.
This is Celtic’s first home match under James Kinney, hopefully we can continue were we left off on Saturday.
