John joins Celtic from Southport, but started his career at Manchester United. He signed for United’s youth setup in 2007 after his former youth club, Burnley, had refused quarter of a million pounds offer from Liverpool, with Chelsea also chasing his signature. He was given a United first team contract in 2010, but never went onto break out of the reserve team, instead being sent on loan to Royal Antwerp (13 appearances and 3 goals), Sheffield United (16 appearances and 2 goals) and Notts County (7 appearances and 1 goal) between 2012 and 2013, eventually signing permanently for Barnsley in 2013. After further reserve team appearances, he joined AFC Telford in 2016, going via Molde, Crawley Town and Wrexham. John made 17 appearances for the Bucks, scoring four times, before signing in 2016 for Southport. He made 8 appearances for Southport before being sent to Bradford (2 appearances, 1 goal) and Chorley (2 appearances), and has been released to join Celtic. Despite being born in Ghana, he has made three England Under 17s appearances.
