Simon is a versatile player who has had two spells at Clitheroe for whom he has played in just about every position, including goal. He rejoined Clitheroe in 2005, and has made over 70 appearances, and was captain of the team in the 06/07 season. He had previously been a target of Celtic, but turned down a chance to move here in 2006, but the lure of Steve Burr was too much in 2007. His previous spell at Clitheroe was back in 2002, where he joined from Great Harewood. After a season there he went to Kendal Town, and then to Prescot Cables, before joining Hyde United for three games in 2005. A return to Clitheroe saw him stride into his best form, and he has become something of a cult hero there. After a season that saw him named in every squad where he was available, he was lured by the smell of the seaside to Fleetwood Town.
