Celtic defeated by a strong Buxton side
By Taran Dhamrait

Celtic were defeated 2-0 by a Buxton side although there was not much to choose between the sides with the quality of Buxton's former Championship players ultimately shining through.

A brace from winger Warren Clarke sealed the three points for Buxton and kept them at the top of the league table.

The opening 30 minutes was fairly even with no real chance for either side but on 34 minutes, Buxton took the lead. Striker Diego De Girolamo picked up the ball from deep, he sent in a cross which was met at the back post by Clarke who powered a header past Grant Shenton.

Celtic had a decent chance just before the break, Jack Ryan found some space down the right-hand flank, he sent a low cross to the edge of the area, Callum Harris connected with the ball but his shot was wide.

Buxton had the better of the first half but the second half was better from Celtic and it was the visitors who looked the more likely scorers.

Scott Bakkor was fouled just outside the penalty area after a mazy driving run however his free-kick was blocked by the wall.

Bakkor then had another chance, the ball bounced after a cross just infront of Celtic's captain, he struck a half-volley towards goal which was palmed away by Theo Richardson.

After a strong period in the game for Celtic, Buxton began to time-waste and then went up the other end and scored a second.

A long kick from Richardson caused confusion in Celtic's defence and the ball was eventually headed into the path of Clarke whose looping header beat Shenton.

Ethan Padden and Dougie Nyaupembe looked bright off the bench but a very good Buxton side saw the game out and extended their impressive start to the league campaign.
