On Saturday, Celtic start their FA Cup trail away at Kendal Town in the second qualifying round. Kick off 3pm. Kendal Town are in the Evo-Stik First Division (North). After eight games, they have won five, drawn two and lost one, giving them seventeen points from a possible twenty-four.
Kendal have scored seventeen goals, which is just over two goals per game, and conceded ten, which is a little over a goal per game. Their one loss this season came at home to Clitheroe, who beat them 3-1 on the eighth of September. They won their opening three matches, beating Farsley away, Burscough at home and Ossett Town at home. They dropped their first points away at Bamber Bridge when they drew 1-1. After this, they beat Mossley 3-1 at home, and most recently, beat Witton last Saturday 3-2 away, and drew with Trafford 2-2 away. This means that they lost their last home league match.
They have kept three clean sheets, and have scored in every match this season.
In the FA Cup, they have already played two rounds. The first was against North Shields. They drew the away match 1-1, forcing a replay, which they won 2-0. Two weeks ago, they faced Dunston UTS, ay home, and won 5-2.
There is no team information available for their last match, however in their 3-2 away win at Witton Albion, where they took a three goal half time lead, only to concede twice late on, they lined up as:
1. Richard Whiteside
2. Michael Aspin
3. Rob Henry
4. Danny Forbes
5. Rob Williams
6. Chris Smalley
7. Craig Carney
8. Aaron Helliwell
9. Jordan Connerton
10. Danny Wilkins
11. Rob Wilson
Celtic will still be without Chris Simm and Adam Farrell, with Farrell serving the last match of his suspension. Also missing will be Danny Wisdom and Alex Mudimu, both of whom are edging back towards fitness. In Celtic's last match, the 1-0 home win over FC United of Manchester, we lined up as:
1. Tony McMillan
2. Oliver Crowley
3. John Shaw
4. Matty Hughes
5. Jack Higgins
6. Aaron Chalmers
7. Ben McKenna
8. Bohan Dixon
9. Alex Johnson
10. Steve Tames
11. Aidan Chippendale
With £4,500 up for grabs to the winner, plus being in the hat for the next round, both sides will be going for it. It would be beneficial for Celtic to do so at the first opportunity, rather than heading for a replay, though Celtic's long and inglorious history in this competition, nothing can be taken for granted.
