With both teams out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle, Celtic travel to Whitby on Tuesday night for a league clash (kick off 7:45pm). Whitby have had a solid start with three wins and a draw putting them seventh in the table on ten points, two points and six places above Celtic. There will be a match centre and Twitter feed for this game.

Whitby were put out of the FA Cup by Whitely Bay on Saturday, losing to a last minute, stoppage time goal, after losing one player to a red card and missing a penalty. In the league Whitby have started well, with three wins, although only one of those wins have been at home, when they beat Buxton in their opening game. Since then, both Witton and Hednesford have beaten them, with Whitby's other two wins coming away from home against North Ferriby and, most recently, Matlock Town. Whitby have managed to score against five of the six teams they have played, failing to score only at home to Witton. They have also kept three clean sheets, including their most recent league match away at Matlock.

Last season, Whitby finished just one place above Celtic in twenty-first on fifty points, two more points than Celtic after a disastrous run-in that saw them pick up one win in their last eight matches. Their top scorer was David Carson, who finished with eight goals. Matthew Tymon and Junior Mondal were right behind him on seven each. Carson joined Morpeth Town over the close season, but Tymon and Mondal are both available, and already on the scoresheet.

The last meeting between the two teams was in October last season, when Celtic won 3-1 at Bower Fold, with goals from John Cofie, Ross Killock and Liam Dickinson giving a much more positive result than our last visit to the seaside when Whitby won 4-1 at a canter, Aaron Burn's equaliser cancelled out by a collapse in the second half. Our last win in Whitby was in 2008, when we knocked them out of the FA Trophy. Our last win there in the league was in 2003 when we won 2-0 with second half goals from Kenny Mayers and Colin Potts giving Celtic the three points. In our last eight visits, we have won five and lost three.

Celtic have not been conceding much, so once the strikers find their shooting boots, we should start to see more positive results. The loss of Jake Turner to a broken wrist has been mitigated by the loan of James Aspinall. Greg Wilkinson and Tom Brown were also both missing through injury, but otherwise, Celtic have a full squad ahead of Tuesday night, when Celtic need to end the current run of three straight defeats.
