Stalybridge Celtic is pleased to announce the signing of defender Fortune Maphosa.

The 26-year-old promotion winning central defender joins Celtic from Avro and links up with Jon Macken’s squad ahead of Saturday’s fixture away at Lichfield.

Previously featuring for clubs including Worcester City, Tamworth, Nuneaton, Quorn and Brighouse Town, Fortune joined Avro ahead of the 2025-26 season, helping them gain promotion to the NPL Premier Division.

After joining Celtic, Fortune said: “I’m excited to be here, I know it’s a big club and was so close to gaining promotion last season. The goal this season is to go one better and I will do everything to help achieve that.”
