Match Preview :- Hinckley United - Saturday January 21st, 2012 (15:00:00)

On Saturday Celtic get back to league action with a trip down south to face Hinckley United in the BSBN. Hinckley are currently 20th in the league on 25 points, 18 places and 23 points behind second placed Celtic. There will be a live match centre for this game.

Hinckley are currently one point off safety in the relegation zone, though they have games in hand over the Bishop's Stortford, Vauxhall and Workington above them. Only Guiseley have played fewer games. Hinckley have had a torrid season. A high of ninth placed followed three consecutive wins back in September, but with only three wins in their last fourteen games since that high, they have slid down the table into the relegation zone. They have won two of their last five home games, beating Eastwood most recently, and Colwyn Bay back at the start of October. A 3-2 loss to Worcester and (in their most recent game) a 4-1 defeat to Altrincham are their two home losses in the last five, with draws with Hyde and Nuneaton. The draws show that top of the table teams need to be wary of Hinckley.

Our last visit to Hinckley last season saw one of the most bizarre twenty-minute spells in any match that season, during which Hinckley put five past the newly formed Celtic team in August after Celtic had been leading 2-0. Our last win at the Marston Stadium was back in September 2008 when we won 3-0, when we won 1-0. Hinckley's recent 5-2 win is their only victory over Celtic at their own ground, with three draws and Celtic winning four, including putting Hinckley out of the FA Trophy back in December 2006.

Hinckley have two players vying for the Golden Boot this season, with both Andre Grey and Danny Newton on ten goals apiece. The final quarter of the game is Hinckley's most prolific, with fourteen of their thirty-eight goals scored during this period, whilst around the hour mark is their most vulnerable with sixteen of their fifty-four conceded goals scored in this period. On average they score 1.6 goals a game (1.8 at home) and concede 2.4 goals per game (1.7 at home). They have kept three clean sheets all season, beating Gainsborough 3-0 back at the start of the season, whilst holding Hyde to a 0-0 draw in November and beating Eastwood 4-0 at the start of January. Their best result has to be the 5-2 win over Nuneaton on New Year's Day. Hopefully that means they have got this score-line out of their system now...

With Celtic not winning in their last six away games, the automated prediction algorithm is suggesting a 1-1 draw is on the cards. Celtic need to get their promotion push back on track, and Hinckley's home form could mean that it is at Hinckley were it happens.

Hinckley drew 0-0 (with two disallowed goals) with Luton on Wednesday night in the FA Trophy, forcing a replay on Monday after the initial date was frozen off. They have no apparent injury worries, and nobody in the Blue Square Bet North is suspended this weekend. Hinckley will probably give a start to Craig Farrell on loan from Telford. In the Luton match, Hinckley lined up as:
1. Denham Hinds
2. Sam Belcher
3. Mark Dudley
4. Richard Lavery
5. Paul Lister
6. Calum Flanagan
7. Lloyd Kerry
8. Andy Gooding
9. Craig Farrell
10. Andre Gray
11. Danny Newton

Celtic went out of the FA Trophy on Saturday at the hands of perennial bogey team Guiseley. Celtic are suspension free and starting to come back to full fitness with Austin Mitchell the only player missing on Saturday. In that match, Celtic lined up as:
1. Jan Budtz
2. Joel Bembo-Leta
3. Rhys Meynell
4. Chris Lynch
5. Kristian Platt
6. Jack Rea
7. Stephen Brogan
8. Greg Wilkinson
9. Phil Marsh
10. Lloyd Ellams
11. Craig Hobson

Celtic really need to get back to winning ways to keep the promotion push on. Recent results have meant that Hyde are now twelve points clear (having played three extra games), whilst Halifax and Guiseley have both moved to within striking distance of Celtic's second placed spot. Guiseley are at home to Droylsden, whilst Halifax are away at Vauxhall; both games you would fancy the Yorkshire teams to win. Hyde have a home tie to Gloucester, a game Hyde should win.
